Vaidyanath Temple, also known as Vaijnath or Vaithyanath, is a revered Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Shiva, located in Deoghar, Jharkhand (India), and in Parli, Maharashtra (India). It is one of the 12 Jyotirlingas, which are considered the holiest shrines dedicated to Lord Shiva across India. The Vaidyanath Temple in Deoghar is the most famous among these two locations, attracting millions of pilgrims every year.
The name "Vaidyanath" translates to "Lord of Physicians," symbolizing Lord Shiva as the healer of ailments. The temple is associated with the belief that Lord Shiva cured the demon king Ravana of his ailments, and thus, this temple is believed to cure devotees of their physical and mental sufferings. It is particularly popular among devotees seeking healing from diseases or suffering.
