Rameswaram
Introduction
Rameswaram is a revered town in the southernmost part of Tamil Nadu, India, located on Pamban Island. It holds immense spiritual significance in Hinduism and is considered one of the holiest places in India. Rameswaram is best known for the Ramanathaswamy Temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva, which is one of the 12 Jyotirlingas (sacred shrines of Lord Shiva) in India. The town is also associated with the epic Ramayana, as it is believed to be the place where Lord Rama built a bridge (Rama Setu) to Lanka (modern-day Sri Lanka) to rescue his wife, Sita, from the demon king Ravana.
