Introduction

Omkareshwar is a sacred Hindu pilgrimage town located in Madhya Pradesh, India. It is one of the 12 Jyotirlingas, which are revered shrines dedicated to Lord Shiva. The name "Omkareshwar" is derived from the shape of the island where the temple is situated, which resembles the Hindu sacred symbol "Om." The town is situated on an island called Mandhata, which is located in the Narmada River.
